> OpenAI opened ChatGPT Sites in public beta—prompt to interactive websites/apps inside ChatGPT, with Business/Enterprise public URL publishing and Pro/Edu beta (Plus following). Vibe coding with hosting and share links as default plumbing; EEA/CH/UK held back.

“Vibe coding” stops being a demo when **hosting and share links** are default plumbing. Sites turns ChatGPT from a place that *suggests* UIs into a place that **ships hosted surfaces**—a distribution wedge against Replit, Cursor-to-deploy loops, and internal portal builders.

On **July 9, 2026**, OpenAI’s **ChatGPT release notes** introduced **ChatGPT Sites in public beta**: build **dashboards, trackers, prototypes, portals, and reports** without leaving ChatGPT, then preview, refine, and share. **Business and Enterprise** already had Sites; **starting that day** they could **publish public URLs** beyond workspace members. **Pro, Pro Lite, and Edu** began public-beta access, with **Plus** following; **Free/Go** excluded. Public publishing and the expanded consumer beta were **not available in the EEA, Switzerland, or the UK** at launch.

## What Sites does

From OpenAI’s July 9 ChatGPT release-note entry:

| Item | Detail |
|------|--------|
| **Job** | Prompt → interactive website or lightweight app **inside ChatGPT** |
| **Examples** | Dashboards, project trackers, launch calendars, prototypes, internal portals, reports |
| **Hosting** | OpenAI-hosted shareable URLs (Business/Enterprise public publish) |
| **Enterprise control** | Public publishing **off by default**; admin must enable |
| **Plans (Jul 9)** | Business/Enterprise (existing + public publish); Pro / Pro Lite / Edu beta; Plus rolling; not Free/Go |
| **Geography** | Expanded beta + public publish **held back** in EEA, CH, UK at launch |

Sites is a **distinct product line** from **ChatGPT Work** (multi-hour agent deliverables) and the **desktop Chat/Work/Codex merge**; all three arrived on the same day. The July 9 notes identify existing Business/Enterprise access and the new **public-beta and public-URL** expansion.

## Limits

- Free/Go excluded; Plus rolled after Pro/Edu.
- EEA, Switzerland, and UK held back on expanded beta and public publish at launch.
- Enterprise public publishing is off by default—admin enablement required.
- AI-generated public URLs create a new web surface for brand/security governance.

**Correction (October 14, 2026):** Removed the default-authentication description, earlier-preview date and an unverified same-day model-launch comparison. The access and publishing changes are sourced to the July 9 release notes.
