> Bedrock Robotics announced a $600 million Series C on October 26 at a $4.1 billion post-money valuation, co-led by CapitalG and Emergence Capital, bringing its total funding to nearly $1 billion. The company says its fully autonomous excavators have been doing paid work on live commercial job sites since mid-August and that its customer volume has more than doubled since 2025. Those deployment claims are the company's; the release and TechCrunch give no machine counts or revenue.

Bedrock Robotics' $600 million round comes two months after the company says its fully autonomous excavators began doing paid work on live construction sites, and that claim, like its customer growth, is so far the company's own.

## The round

Bedrock says its **October 26** Series C raised $600 million at a $4.1 billion post-money valuation, co-led by CapitalG and Emergence Capital. New investors include US Innovative Technology Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners and Temasek, and existing investors include 8VC, Georgian, Valor Equity Partners, Xora, Eclipse, Perry Creek Capital and NVIDIA. Bedrock says total funding is nearly $1 billion, and TechCrunch notes the company was founded in 2024. Another robotics startup, FieldAI, was reported on October 2 to have signed a term sheet for $700 million at a $10 billion valuation, which [our report on that Business Insider story](https://timesof.ai/2026/10/fieldai-700m-10b-term-sheet) says had not formally closed; its software is meant to run across humanoids, robot dogs, drones and industrial rovers. Bedrock says the money will fund more machines on commercial sites and the field and operations infrastructure to support them.

## What Bedrock says it does

The company sells a self-driving kit that is retrofitted onto existing construction vehicles, starting with excavators. Bedrock says that in mid-August 2026 it reached a milestone: fully autonomous excavators performing paid work on live commercial job sites. TechCrunch names three sites where Bedrock-equipped excavators are commercially operating: a water treatment facility in Nevada, an earthwork site run by Champion Site Prep in Texas, and a 1.2 million-cubic-yard civil sitework project with Zachry Construction Corporation. The company says it has more than doubled its total customer volume since 2025.

Haydon, an Arizona-based general contractor, is the newest partner. Bedrock says Haydon will use its technology on a remote site in Texas and plans to expand to building and heavy civil projects, including data centers and healthcare facilities. The release also names seven customers added in new regions, including Wagner Construction in Minnesota and C.W. Matthews in Georgia. Bedrock also named a vice president of operations, Amy Jones Satrom, and a general counsel, Lando Juarez.

## Why Bedrock points to a labor shortage

Bedrock says it focuses on excavators partly because skilled operators are scarce, and that it takes five years or more to master the machine. TechCrunch cites an estimate from the Associated Builders and Contractors that more than 40% of construction workers will retire in the next five years. The release cites projections that employers will need to fill about 1.7 million openings a year through 2035 and says 87% of construction firms report openings for hourly craft positions; it does not name the source of those figures.

## Limits

- The deployment, "fully autonomous" and customer-growth claims are Bedrock's; we found no independent verification.
- Neither the release nor TechCrunch gives a count of deployed machines, revenue or the share of work done without a human operator on site.
- The labor-market statistics in the release are unsourced there; the retirement estimate is the Associated Builders and Contractors', as TechCrunch reports it.
- NVIDIA is named as an existing investor in both sources; its stake is not disclosed.
