> Hyphenate, a New York-based maker of AI agents for corporate finance teams that rebranded from Maximor less than a month ago, announced a $45 million Series A on October 27 led by Nexus Venture Partners, bringing its total funding to $54 million. The company says its revenue grew 86 times and its customer base 11 times in the 12 months since its seed round, figures it did not break down further.

Hyphenate's pitch is that finance teams will hand AI agents whole workflows once the software proves it can meet an auditor's standard on one, and it says its new $45 million round will let it run that pattern across the whole finance function.

## The round

Hyphenate says Nexus Venture Partners led the Series A, with participation from B Capital and existing investors including Foundation Capital, BoldCap and Gaia Ventures. The round brings its total funding to $54 million and comes less than a month after the company rebranded from Maximor, according to its release. The company says it raised a $9 million seed round a year ago. SiliconANGLE reports that the company's legal name is Prosperous Commerce Inc. Hyphenate was founded in 2024 by Ramnandan Krishnamurthy and Ajay Krishna Amudan, whom the company describes as former Microsoft finance transformation leaders.

## What the agents do

The company says its agents reconcile cash, process sales orders, run invoicing, maintain subledgers and move the month-end close forward, with finance staff stepping in where judgment changes the outcome. It says the system trains on a company's historical spreadsheets, emails and system logs instead of relying on engineers to build bespoke agents for each customer, and records evidence for every action. CEO Krishnamurthy said in the release: "Once a team sees the system handle one workflow to an auditor's standard, they hand it the next one."

## Customers and claimed results

Hyphenate says it has passed multi-million-dollar annual recurring revenue and counts six public companies among its customers. Its release names Groupon, HiBid, Mini Melts USA and Synthesia as customers and says Groupon is replacing legacy and home-grown systems with Hyphenate across treasury, order-to-cash and more than a dozen subledger processes. Groupon CFO Rana Kashyap said in the release that the company sees Hyphenate "becoming the AI foundation for our entire finance organization." Customers report 90% less repetitive finance work and 75% fewer audit exceptions, according to the company. In a CFO survey the company commissioned, 96% of respondents named freeing teams for strategic work as AI's biggest benefit, while 14% completely trusted AI to produce accurate accounting data independently, Hyphenate says.
