> OpenAI and Google Cloud said on Oct. 21 that Google Cloud customers will be able to buy OpenAI's frontier models and Codex through Model Garden and draw down existing spend commitments. General availability is planned in the coming weeks, and OpenAI says Microsoft remains its primary cloud partner. No financial terms were disclosed.

Axios argues that winning enterprise AI is about distribution as much as model quality, and this deal adds procurement: enterprises will be able to pay for OpenAI from budgets they have already committed to Google. On **Wednesday, October 21**, **OpenAI** and **Google Cloud** said Google Cloud customers will be able to buy OpenAI's frontier models and **Codex** agentic workflows through **Model Garden**, transacted on Google Cloud Marketplace. Enterprises with Google Cloud spend commitments will be able to draw them down for these purchases, OpenAI says.

## What is and is not live

OpenAI says its models will "soon" be available in Google's **Antigravity** development environment and the **Gemini Agent**. "General availability is planned in the coming weeks," it says, and OpenAI is taking access requests in the meantime. Neither company disclosed pricing, revenue sharing or volumes.

OpenAI's post ends: "Microsoft remains OpenAI's primary cloud partner." **Axios** reports that the agreement follows OpenAI's expansion onto Amazon Web Services earlier this year, after changes to its Microsoft partnership, and that it extends OpenAI's reach to customers of all three major US cloud providers.

## Why Google would sell a rival

OpenAI president **Greg Brockman** said the deal makes "our most capable models and Codex available where customers are already building." Google Cloud CEO **Thomas Kurian** said Google wants to give customers "a broad selection of models, including those from OpenAI." **Mike Leone** of Moor Insights & Strategy told Axios: "For Google, I read the deal as confidence, because Gemini now has to win those customers with OpenAI sitting right next to it."

## Limits

- The announcement covers model distribution through Google Cloud's marketplace; neither company describes any compute, training or hosting arrangement beyond that.
- General availability, pricing and the timing of the Antigravity and Gemini Agent integrations are not yet set.
