> At Oracle AI World on October 27, Oracle announced a product suite with OpenAI that brings ChatGPT plugins, Codex and OpenAI's cyber models into Oracle's applications, development tools and a managed security-testing service. In a separate release, Oracle and Google said Google TPUs will be available on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in 2027, which the two companies say will be the first time Google TPUs are offered on a hyperscale cloud outside Google, and CNBC reports that OpenAI's Jalapeño chip and Cerebras hardware will also run on OCI.

Oracle used its AI World conference to make two bets at once: that companies will run their Oracle software through ChatGPT, and that AI customers want more than one kind of chip in the same cloud. On **October 27**, Oracle announced a product suite with OpenAI, and, in a separate release with Google, said Google's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) will be available on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). CNBC reports that OpenAI's Jalapeño chip and Cerebras hardware will also run on OCI.

## What Oracle is building with OpenAI

The centrepiece is **Oracle AI Workspace**, which Oracle says brings OpenAI models together with Oracle applications, enterprise data and cloud services. Through plugins in ChatGPT, it is designed to connect Oracle Fusion Applications, NetSuite, Oracle AI Database and OCI, so that employees can look up information, complete approved business workflows and take action in Oracle systems.

Oracle also announced:

- **Oracle AI Security Mesh**, a managed service that uses OpenAI's frontier cyber models with Oracle's testing tools to find and fix vulnerabilities across OCI, other clouds and on-premises systems. Oracle says customers define where testing is authorized and control its scope, while Oracle manages safeguards to reduce the risk of outages.
- **Oracle App Composer**, which lets employees build applications with Codex while Oracle handles deployment and operations on OCI. It also supports APEXlang, a new Oracle technology.
- **Oracle AI SMB Bundle**, a free-to-start package for small businesses that includes $12,000 of Oracle cloud credits a year, along with ChatGPT Business, Oracle AI Workspace, Codex, App Composer and NetSuite QuickStart.

"With this new product suite, we are uniting their transformative AI capabilities with Oracle applications, data, and cloud infrastructure," Oracle's Clay Magouyrk said in the release. OpenAI president Greg Brockman said the partnership puts "frontier AI into everyday operations." In June, OpenAI let enterprises [pay for its models and Codex with Oracle cloud credits](https://timesof.ai/2026/06/openai-models-codex-oracle-cloud-universal-credits); this suite moves OpenAI's tools inside Oracle's own applications.

## More chips on OCI

Oracle and Google said the TPU deal marks "the first time Google TPUs will be offered on a hyperscale cloud platform outside Google." OCI will provide the power, cooling and networking, and the release says TPUs on OCI "will be available in calendar year 2027, ramping over a multi-year period to meet customer needs." It does not say how many chips are involved or which TPU generation will be offered first.

CNBC reports that Jalapeño, [OpenAI's custom inference chip](https://timesof.ai/2026/08/openai-jalapeno-inference-chip-hot-chips), and Cerebras hardware will also run on OCI. A Cerebras spokesperson told CNBC the deal is material but that the company would not disclose its scale because it is in a quiet period.

Mahesh Thiagarajan, president of OCI, told CNBC that his team watched OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra model being trained at Oracle's Stargate campus in Abilene, Texas. Asked whether the new chips mark a pivot away from Nvidia GPUs, he said no, calling Nvidia's chips "the best, most fungible," CNBC reports.

Cerebras stock rose about 8% after the news and Oracle shares rose nearly 5% on October 27, according to CNBC, which notes that Oracle's shares are down more than 30% this year.

## Limits

- The product descriptions are Oracle's and OpenAI's; Oracle's release says the timing and pricing of the features may change.
- The Jalapeño and Cerebras arrangements, the GPT-6 Astra training remark and the share moves are as reported by CNBC; Oracle's two releases do not mention Jalapeño or Cerebras.
- Neither release gives the scale, price or start date of any chip deployment other than the 2027 availability of TPUs.
- We found CNBC as the only independent report on these announcements in the sources we read.
