Google Will Shut Down Its Jules Coding Agent on December 31 and Fold the Work Into Antigravity

Google says Jules, the asynchronous coding agent it launched in December 2024, will wind down on December 31, 2026, as part of unifying its agentic coding efforts. Users can keep working in sessions until November 11, after which Jules becomes read-only. Google says lessons from Jules are going into Antigravity, its agent-first development platform, and it has published a way to export settings, memories and session history.

Google is cutting its coding-agent lineup down to one product. Jules, the asynchronous agent it launched in December 2024, will wind down on December 31, 2026, "as part of our work to unify our agentic coding efforts," Google said in a notice posted on October 29.

The timeline#

Users can keep working in Jules sessions until November 11, after which it turns read-only until the end of the year, according to the notice. Google says code, branches and pull requests already live in GitHub and stay there, and it has published a tool to export what Jules holds: account settings, environment variables, scheduled tasks, connected repositories, memories and full session histories.

Where the work goes#

Google says what it learned from Jules is shaping products across the company, "including our agent-first platform, Google Antigravity." The Verge quoted Google as saying it is bringing Jules' approach into Antigravity "so you get the best of both worlds: autonomous remote background task execution and an agent-first development environment." Antigravity is also where OpenAI says its own models are due to arrive.

Limits#

  • Google has not said whether Antigravity will gain every Jules feature, such as scheduled tasks, or on what timeline.
  • Google has not said how many people use Jules.
