10,000 Claude Scientist Seats Combine Free and Discounted Access
Anthropic opened a Claude team plan for scientists: 10,000 seats worldwide for verified principal investigators — Standard free, Premium $15/month at 5× usage, up to a year — and will expand AI for Science credits beyond biology. Fable still blocks professional bio queries; Opus-class remains the bio/chem path.

Anthropic’s first allocation combines free Standard seats and discounted Premium seats for scientists, while retaining its restrictions on Fable biology use.
Anthropic published “Expanding our support for scientists.” Starting that day, it offered 10,000 seats worldwide via a new Claude team plan for scientists. Verified principal investigators (academic or nonprofit) add their lab: Standard seats free; Premium (5× usage) $15/month, up to a year. Anthropic “intend[s] to extend this program well beyond” the first 10,000. AI for Science credits — previously mostly biology — open to other fields, including compute-heavy work of the kind cited for Riemann zeta and protein design; labs that outgrow Standard/Premium can apply for up to $50,000 credits per project. Claude Science (June workbench) stays the product surface. Fable still blocks professional biology and drug-development queries; Opus-class remains the bio/chem path. A US government access program for Mythos-class life-sciences use has enrolled first participants — no scale or start date beyond “share more soon.”

- Mythos trusted-access path has enrolled first participants only — no scale or date.
- Fable bio block is unchanged; this is not a dual-use biology unlock.
Correction and source review — October 14, 2026: Clarified that the 10,000-seat allocation covers both free Standard and discounted Premium seats; removed an unsourced IPO-timing inference.
