Apple Brings Its Siri AI Beta to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish With 27.2 Updates; It Remains Unavailable in the EU on iPhone and iPad

Apple said on October 26 that, with its 27.2 software updates, Siri AI is now available in beta in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, in addition to English. Apple says Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese are coming by the end of the year, that Siri AI is currently unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, and that server-based features have daily usage limits, with expanded access to be offered for a fee in the future. Apple has not given a price or a date for the fee.

Updated October 27, 2026: Added Apple's October 26 announcement that Siri AI is now in beta in five more languages with the 27.2 updates, and what Apple says remains unavailable or limited. The September 14 report is below, unchanged.

October 27: Siri AI reaches five more languages with 27.2#

Apple said on October 26 that with the 27.2 software updates released that day, Siri AI is available in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Apple's September 14 announcement, below, had said those languages would follow. Apple says Siri AI is in beta in iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2, that it requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language, and that it is available in English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. MacRumors reports that iOS 27.2 is the first major update to iOS 27, which came out in September.

Apple says language support will keep expanding, with Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese coming by the end of the year.

Apple also lists what remains restricted. It says Siri AI is currently unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, and that it is "working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward." It says Siri AI is not available to users under 13. It says Apple Intelligence features that rely on server-side models, including Siri AI, are subject to daily usage limits that vary by feature, request complexity and system demand, and that "expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future." The release gives no price or date for that fee.

MacRumors, quoting Apple's iOS 27.2 release notes, says Siri AI is not available in the EU or mainland China. It lists other 27.2 additions to Siri AI, including recall of past conversations, more sources to draw on, and an Excluded Apps setting that lets users choose which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can access. Our October 15 report on Apple Intelligence in China said Tim Cook told Jiemian that the first China features would not include Siri AI.

Limits of the October 27 update#

  • The availability, beta, fee and language statements are Apple's own; we did not test Siri AI in the new languages.
  • Apple's page says expanded access for server-based features will carry a fee but gives no price, date or description of which usage would be charged.
  • The September Limits line about China being delayed stands. MacRumors, quoting Apple's release notes, says Siri AI is not available in mainland China; we found no Apple date for China.
  • The 27.2 release-note details come from MacRumors' excerpt; we did not open Apple's own release-notes page.
  • Apple's October 26 page does not say how the five new languages compare with English in features.

Apple began an English-language Siri AI beta with regional restrictions and device-dependent features.

Apple (September 14) published “Siri AI: a profoundly more capable and personal assistant is here.” Public English beta of next-gen Siri / Apple Intelligence: personal context (Mail / Messages / Photos), onscreen awareness, systemwide app actions, dedicated Siri app with iCloud history. French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish next month. Not initially in the EU on iOS / iPadOS / watchOS (Mac / Vision Pro in the EU OK if language supported); China delayed. On-device AFM Core Advanced on iPhone Duo / 18 Pro / Air / 17 Pro, M4 iPad 12GB+, M3 Mac 12GB+, Vision Pro M5. Certain server features have daily usage limits. Apple itself says the new foundation models were built in collaboration with Google and Gemini, and run both on device and through Private Cloud Compute.

Limits#

  • Watch EU timing, feature-specific availability and server-feature daily caps.
  • China delayed; EU phone/tablet/watch holdout.

Correction (October 14, 2026): Removed unsupported comparative “last” and waitlist claims. Apple’s own release, not only secondary reporting, confirms the Google/Gemini collaboration; on-device advanced-model eligibility is separate from basic Siri AI availability.
