Tencent's Hy4 Adds Vision and Computer Use, and Tencent Says the Open Weights Follow in Days
Tencent released Hy4 on November 4 with image understanding and computer use for the first time, including training on Blender and CAD. It is live in Tencent's apps, on Tencent Cloud and through OpenRouter at the preview's prices. Tencent says the weights and system cards will follow "in the coming days". Its finance and hallucination figures come from evaluations Tencent ran itself.

Tencent's Hy4 matters less for its benchmark claims than for what it adds to an open-weights flagship from a Chinese lab: the model can now see and operate a computer, and Tencent says the weights will be published. Until they are, it is a hosted model only, and nearly every performance figure in the launch comes from tests Tencent ran itself.
What Tencent released#
Tencent announced Hy4 on November 4. It says the model adds visual understanding for the first time, covering fine-grained image detail, complex charts and visual math reasoning. It also adds computer use for the first time, working through both command-line and graphical interfaces, with specialized training on professional software such as Blender and CAD.
Hy4 is available now in Tencent Cloud TokenHub and Tencent products including WorkBuddy, CodeBuddy and Yuanbao, and its API is offered through third-party platforms including OpenRouter, Tencent said. Tencent says it will release the model weights and system cards "in the coming days". Tencent says a cheaper Hy4 Flash is scheduled for release soon.
The earlier Hy4 preview, which Tencent published on Hugging Face under the Apache 2.0 license, has 770 billion total parameters, 49 billion active per token and a 1-million-token context window, according to its model card. TechNode also describes Hy4 as a 770-billion-parameter model; Tencent's launch post gives no new size.
Prices and offers#
Tencent says Hy4 keeps the preview's pricing, which it gives as about US$0.90 per million input tokens and US$2.70 per million output tokens. TechNode lists the same tier as $0.834 and $2.501. Hy4 is 50% off on TokenHub through December 31, and WorkBuddy and CodeBuddy are free from November 4 to 15, Tencent said.
Tencent's own numbers#
In a blind evaluation Tencent ran with Tencent Financial Technology, 213 finance professionals rated outputs on 579 tasks. Tencent says Hy4 scored 3.04, against 2.97 for DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 and 2.68 each for Kimi K3.1 Pro and GLM-5.3. It also says internal tests cut Hy4's hallucination rate to 7.2% from 12.95% in the preview.
On safety, Tencent says offensive exploitation material was kept out of training and its Xuanwu and Keen security labs found no significant concerns about offensive cyber capability in the areas they tested. It says internal reviewers found the model's open-ended experimental design ability in biology more limited than frontier models'.
Hy4 enters a crowded Chinese open-weights field: Revolut has made Z.ai's self-hosted GLM its default coding model, and Tencent is also among the Chinese groups lining up large Nvidia orders.
Limits#
- The finance scores, hallucination rates and safety findings are Tencent's own evaluations; no independent lab has published results for the full Hy4 yet.
- The weights and system cards were not available when we published, so the size and license of the final model are not confirmed. The 770 billion figure comes from the preview's model card and TechNode.
- Tencent and TechNode give slightly different prices. Tencent's are rounded approximations.
