Anthropic Has an Unannounced Multiyear Cloud Deal With IREN, The Information Reports
The Information reported on Sunday, Oct. 11, citing people familiar, that Anthropic has an unannounced multiyear cloud deal with former bitcoin miner IREN. No value, capacity or schedule was reported, and neither company has confirmed. IREN disclosed an unnamed frontier-lab contract in August; whether it is the same deal is unclear. IREN shares rose Monday, by 1% to 4% depending on the time.

Anthropic's compute hunt appears to have reached another former bitcoin miner. Anthropic has an unannounced, multiyear cloud-computing deal with IREN, The Information reported on Sunday, October 11, citing people familiar with the relationship, according to Blockspace.
What was reported, and what wasn't
The report gave no contract value, term beyond "multiyear," capacity, GPU configuration or delivery schedule, Blockspace says, and neither company has confirmed it. IREN said in its fiscal 2026 results on August 27 that it had signed a multiyear AI cloud contract with an unnamed "leading frontier AI lab." The Information's report fits that description, but neither company has said they are the same agreement.
If confirmed, it would be a different model from Anthropic's 20-year TeraWulf lease: Blockspace describes it as a cloud contract on IREN-owned GPUs rather than a lease of a powered shell. IREN's anchor customer remains Microsoft, under a five-year agreement worth about $9.7 billion at its Childress, Texas campus, a separate contract.
The market
Accounts of Monday's trading differ by time. 24/7 Wall St. reported IREN up 4% at $36.70 in morning trading, while TeraWulf slipped 0.2%. Blockspace says the shares rose about 5% premarket before giving back most of the move, trading at $35.53, up 0.95%, at 9:55 a.m. EDT.
24/7 Wall St. also notes that SemiAnalysis said last week it had heard customer complaints about the operational quality of IREN's legacy data centers in Prince George and Mackenzie, British Columbia.
Limits
- The Information's report is paywalled and was not read; its claims are as Blockspace summarises them.
