Anthropic has reached an agreement with confidential-computing startup Opaque, according to Constellation Research, which describes a structure in which Anthropic licenses Opaque's technology and brings on some of its team. Terms were not disclosed. The account comes from a single outlet and a statement from Opaque's CEO; we did not find an Anthropic announcement.
What has been reported
Constellation reports that Opaque CEO Aaron Fulkerson noted the deal publicly. It quotes him: "We're proud to share a new agreement with Anthropic that carries OPAQUE's work forward."
Opaque has partnered with Nvidia, Intel, Microsoft and Google on confidential computing and raised a $24 million Series B at a $300 million valuation, Constellation says. Constellation's view is that the deal fits Anthropic's push toward enterprises weighing on-premise deployments and sovereign AI.
Limits
- Single-outlet report. Constellation calls the deal an acquihire; its text describes a license plus hiring some of the team, so we do not call it an acquisition.
- Anthropic had not commented in the coverage we read.
