Cowork on Mobile/Web: Portable Oversight for Multi-Hour Agents

Agentic products fail in the real world when they tie users to a single machine. Mobile + web Cowork is Anthropic admitting that multi-hour agents only stick if oversight and kickoff are portable. Paired with OpenAI’s same-week Work/desktop merge, July’s story is less “which model is smartest” and more who owns the cross-device agent shell.
Anthropic on July 7, 2026 said Claude Cowork is expanding from the desktop app to web and mobile (iOS/Android). Rollout is a beta, starting with Max subscribers and expected to reach other paid plans over following weeks. Cowork can run remote/cloud sessions so work continues when no device is online, sync files across surfaces, and notify on phone when the agent needs a human decision—turning long-running knowledge-work agents into something you can start at a desk and finish on the train.
