IBM Adds OpenAI as Elite — a Two-Lab Shelf Next to Anthropic

Consulting distribution is how frontier models reach regulated buyers that will not sign a lab MSA first. IBM already sells Anthropic; adding OpenAI as Elite makes IBM a two-lab shelf.

IBM announced a strategic partnership with OpenAI to deploy frontier models across core enterprise operations. The deal embeds GPT-5.6, Codex, and ChatGPT Work into IBM Consulting Advantage, expands cyber work through OpenAI Daybreak and IBM Autonomous Security, and stands up a dedicated OpenAI Practice with thousands of consultants to be certified via the OpenAI Partner Network. IBM will join OpenAI’s Elite partner tier. Terms were not disclosed. TechCrunch notes the pact comes less than a year after IBM’s similar Anthropic alliance.
