Cohere is adding vulnerability research to the sovereign-AI pitch it is assembling. The Canadian lab announced on Thursday, October 15 a proposed agreement to acquire AISLE, which builds autonomous systems to discover and fix previously unknown software vulnerabilities. Reuters reported it as a letter of intent; the deal is not complete, and terms were not disclosed.

What Cohere says AISLE has found

In its first year out of stealth, AISLE discovered more than 500 CVE-assigned vulnerabilities across more than 100 codebases, including all 12 in OpenSSL's January security release and 18 of the 24 CVEs in curl's latest release, according to Cohere.

Cohere Cyber

AISLE's three founders take leadership roles, Cohere says: Ondrej Vlcek, Avast's former chief executive according to Reuters, becomes senior vice president of the new Cohere Cyber; Jaya Baloo becomes Cohere's chief information security officer; and Stanislav Fort becomes vice president of AI security, joining core model research. Cohere plans "a substantial long-term investment" in Prague as its global centre for AI cybersecurity.

Reuters, via The Globe and Mail, said the deal would add cybersecurity to the entity Cohere is assembling through its merger with Aleph Alpha, a combination reported to be worth about US$20 billion. Our North 2 coverage noted that merger agreement.

Limits

  • The vulnerability counts are AISLE's and Cohere's. The founding year differs between Cohere (2024) and Reuters (2025), so it is omitted.
  • The $20 billion figure is Reuters' reported value of the Aleph Alpha combination, not this deal.
