Nooks Gets $500M From General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund, a Revenue-Share Deal Rather Than Equity, and Launches a Sales Assistant

Sales automation startup Nooks said on November 4 that General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund committed $500 million to fund its sales and marketing growth. Unlike equity investors, the fund takes a share of the returns its capital helps generate, Nooks's CEO told Reuters; terms were not disclosed. Nooks also launched Node, an always-on AI assistant for sales reps due for general release in early 2027.

Nooks's $500 million is not a conventional venture round. It is a bet that AI sales software has unit economics predictable enough to fund like a marketing budget. The sales automation startup said on November 4 that General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund (CVF) committed $500 million in growth capital.

How the money works#

Nooks describes the CVF commitment as non-dilutive. Unlike traditional investors who buy a stake, General Catalyst takes a share of the returns its capital helps generate, CEO Dan Lee told Reuters. He declined to give the terms. The money will finance Nooks's sales and marketing push, and Nooks says it will also be used to launch new products and expand internationally. General Catalyst used the same fund for Otter.ai's $320 million in October.

Nooks says it qualified on 3x year-over-year growth and 135% net revenue retention, and that it has more than 2,000 customers, including Glean, Notion and Replit. It told Reuters it is on track to nearly triple annual recurring revenue by year-end but did not give the figure.

What Nooks launched#

Nooks also formally launched its Revenue Agent Platform, a set of AI agents for prospecting, deals, account expansion and coaching, with inbound agents due in the first quarter of 2027. Its new product, Node, is billed as an AI personal assistant for sales reps that works toward a rep's goals in the background and either does the work or brings it to the rep for approval. Node is in early access, with general availability planned for early 2027.

Limits#

  • The growth, retention, productivity and customer figures are Nooks's own, and it has not disclosed revenue.
  • The return-share terms of the CVF deal, including any cap or repayment schedule, were not disclosed.
  • Nooks's claim that Node is "the first" AI personal assistant for sales is a marketing claim we have not tested.
